Laurel Ackley is a family law attorney in Wesley Chapel, Florida. Laurel grew up in Leesburg Florida, a small town just north of Orlando with her younger brother and sister.
After graduating from Leesburg High School, Laurel attended the University of Florida with the intention of becoming a pharmacist, just like her father and uncle; however, because Laurel likes to argue, she quickly decided that her personality and skill set were better suited for a legal career.
Since both her brother and sister were on their way to a degree in pharmacy she was confident her father would not be too disappointed. After graduating with her bachelor’s in political science, Laurel attended Stetson University College of Law and graduated with her Juris Doctorate.
Upon graduating from law school, Laurel moved to North Carolina and worked briefly for a firm focused on business law. She quickly realized that she missed being close to her family and the warm Florida sunshine.
Shortly after her first winter in North Carolina, she passed the Florida Bar exam and moved to Brandon, Florida the following June.
Laurel has represented clients in divorces, adoptions, bankruptcies and child custody matters since 2009. She understands that she meets many of her clients during some of the most difficult times in their lives.
Whenever possible Laurel believes in a non-adversarial approach to family law matters and strives to achieve a positive resolution for her client’s through negotiation and mediation prior to litigating a matter.
When that is not possible Laurel is a zealous advocate for her clients in court. She has handled countless trials and evidentiary hearings.
When Laurel is not working she enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter and three dogs. She enjoys yoga, snorkeling and swimming.
